Mosaic Shawl
with Lisa Richardson

Join Lisa for this engaging 5-part course spread over six weeks as you knit her beautiful Mosaic Shawl together, learning new techniques along the way. Each session focuses on a different section of the shawl, with time between sessions to complete your work so you're ready to progress in the next class.
The original shawl was knitted in Rowan Felted Tweed, and Lisa has also created an alternative version in Alpaca Classic. Both yarns come in a wide variety of shades, allowing you to select your own colour combination or follow one of Lisa’s curated palettes. When you sign up, you'll gain access to a special welcome video from Lisa, where she shares her insights and tips on selecting the perfect colours for your project.
Some sessions will provide opportunities to revisit previous techniques or simply chat with Lisa and ask any questions.
Small classes with plenty of attention from your tutor will ensure that you make lots of progress each week. Classes are recorded so you can catch up on anything you missed and rewatch sections as many times as you like.

Â
Class 1
We begin with the central mosaic section, using a slip stitch technique. This effective colourwork technique involves working with just one shade per row while slipping stitches. The completed central square will be the base for the shawl, from which you'll continue knitting along two of its sides.
Class 2
We'll recap the previous session and address any questions you have. Then, we’ll move on to picking up stitches from the mosaic section and begin our textured slip stitch colourwork using all three shades. As before, you'll work one colour per row while slipping stitches to achieve the intricate design.
Class 3
This session covers a simple lace stitch combined with garter stitch for added texture.
Class 4
We'll work a three-colour stripe in moss stitch, introducing shaping to the design. Instructions on shaping will be provided during the session. Note that this time, there are two weeks between sessions to allow for the additional knitting required before the next class.
Class 5
We’ll revisit the lace pattern from earlier, focusing on the shaping involved in the second scarf section. We will also start the i-cord edging, which adds a beautiful finishing touch to the shawl. After this session, all that’s left will be sewing in the ends and finishing the edging.
