Join Su Melville this season for her Holly Notions Pouch course, a fun and practical project designed by Rowan's Anna Hull, that’s perfect for holding all your knitting essentials or for giving as a gift to a loved one. Su will guide you step by step through the process of creating this charming little pouch, while teaching a range of valuable skills you can use in future projects.

Along the way, you’ll explore stranded colourwork and discover how colour choices can transform your knitting. You’ll also learn embroidered embellishments and duplicate stitch, before moving on to finishing techniques such as sewing up, adding a fabric lining, and inserting a zip.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a delightful handmade pouch as well as a set of versatile new skills to enjoy and build upon.

Small classes with plenty of attention from your tutor will ensure that you make lots of progress each week. Classes are recorded so you can catch up on anything you missed and rewatch sections as many times as you like.

Holly Notions Pouch - Summary 

 
Over five weeks, Su will guide you through every stage of making the Holly Notions Pouch. In week one you’ll explore colour choices and cast on, followed by mastering Fair Isle technique in week two. Week three focuses on adding embroidered embellishments, while week four covers the finishing touches of inserting a zip and fabric lining. In the final week, Su will share further creative ideas such as adding a tassel to help you personalise your pouch and make it truly your own.

What you will need:

YARN: Felted Tweed (50gm)

A Clay 177 x1

B Rose Quartz 206 x1

Plus oddments of the same yarn in shades of your choice for optional embroidery

NEEDLES: 1 pair 3¾mm (no 9) (US 5) needles

EXTRAS: 22 cm (8Âľ in) zip, piece of lining fabric approx 30 cm (12 in) square and sewing thread
