Flawless Finishing Intensive - Class Summary  

Week 1: Blocking Mastery

In this session, you’ll learn how blocking can completely transform your knitted fabric. We’ll cover wet, steam, and spray blocking techniques, and discuss how to choose the right method for different fibres. Using tools like mats, pins, and blocking wires, we’ll focus on shaping, controlling edges, and opening up stitch patterns—especially lace—to achieve a smooth, professional finish.

Week 2: Seaming Essentials

In this workshop, we’ll focus on building strong, clean seams that give your knitted pieces a polished, professional finish. You’ll practise essential seaming techniques including mattress stitch in a variety of stitch patterns, as well as whipstitch and backstitch. Along the way, we’ll explore how to align pieces accurately, manage tension, and understand stitch anatomy—key skills for creating invisible joins and garments that hold their shape beautifully.

Week 3: Borders & Final Finishing

In this session, we’ll refine your edges by focusing on clean techniques for picking up stitches and adding decorative or functional finishes. You’ll learn how to work I-cord bind-offs, crochet trims, and applied borders to enhance your projects. We’ll also cover invisible methods for weaving in ends and managing transitions, helping you create smooth, seamless results that elevate the overall look of your knitting. 

Week 4: Garment Care & Customisation

In our final session, we’ll cover the finishing touches that bring everything together—sewing on buttons, working neat buttonholes, attaching labels, and making simple post-blocking adjustments. We’ll wrap up the workshop with a show-and-tell, giving you the chance to share your work, receive feedback, and reflect on everything you’ve learned throughout the series.
